Colin Flatt 1940-2021
He started as an amateur at Leytonstone before spells with Wisbech Town (over 160 appearances with 75 goals) and Cambridge Utd. He joined Leyton Orient in 1965 before returning to Wisbech as Player-Manager.
Colin joined Barnet in Summer 1971 from Romford and made his debut on 14th August 1971 in a 3-2 win at Folkestone in the following formidable line up;
McClelland, Lye, Jenkins, Ferry, Embery, Powell, King, Ward, Eason Adams and Flatt. Sub: Fusedale
He played a major part in the clubs FA Trophy run in that season. His two goals in the last 15 minutes, Barnet were one down and Jack McClelland had saved a penalty at Northern Premier League Wigan Athletic, was perhaps the highlight in Amber and Black and he did appear in the final at Wembley where the Bees lost 0-3. He made 76 appearances in all scoring 22 times.
He briefly managed the club in 1975 shortly before Billy Meadows took over. His last game was as Player-Manager in August 1975 against Milton Keynes City.
